Morocco Itinerary of 8 Days Morocco Desert & Bird Watching Tour
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech
Welcome to Marrakech. After arriving at the airport, we will meet you and transfer you to your riad or hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore the famous square of Jemaa el-Fnaa, visit the colorful souks, and enjoy Moroccan food and music.
Overnight stay in Marrakech.
Day 2: Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
After breakfast, we drive through the beautiful High Atlas Mountains and cross the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Along the way, enjoy amazing mountain views and stop for pictures.
We continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a famous old kasbah and UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch, we continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Morocco.”
Overnight stay in Ouarzazate.
Day 3: Ouarzazate – Dades Valley – Tinghir
Today we travel through the beautiful valleys and palm groves of southern Morocco. We visit the Dades Valley and enjoy the amazing rock formations and mountain landscapes.
Bird lovers can spot different species around rivers, palm groves, and valleys during the drive.
Continue to Tinghir for overnight stay.
Day 4: Tinghir – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, we visit the spectacular Todra Gorge. Then we continue toward the Sahara Desert through small Berber villages.
Arrive in Merzouga, famous for the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.
In the afternoon, enjoy a camel ride into the desert and watch the sunset over the dunes. Dinner and overnight in a luxury desert camp.
Day 5: Bird Watching in Merzouga Desert
Today is dedicated to bird watching around the desert area. Merzouga is one of the best places for bird lovers in Morocco, especially around seasonal lakes and desert areas.
You may see:
- Desert Sparrows
- Flamingos
- Egyptian Nightjars
- Blue-cheeked Bee-eaters
- Larks and Warblers
Visit Dayet Srij Lake, where many migratory birds stop during the year. Enjoy the peaceful desert nature and photography opportunities.
Overnight stay in Merzouga.
Day 6: Merzouga – Alnif – Nkob – Agdz
After breakfast, we leave the desert and travel through desert landscapes and traditional Berber villages. We pass through Alnif and Nkob.
Continue through the beautiful Draa Valley with its thousands of palm trees and old kasbahs before arriving in Agdz.
Overnight stay in Agdz.
Day 7: Agdz – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After breakfast, drive back toward Marrakech through the Atlas Mountains. Enjoy free stops for pictures and relaxing breaks along the way.
Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon. Free time to explore the city or shop in the old medina.
Overnight stay in Marrakech.
Day 8: Transfer to the Airport
Depending on your flight time, we transfer you to the airport for your departure. End of your unforgettable Morocco desert and bird watching adventure.
